ABOUT BOX ELDER

Box Elder is the 11th most populous city in South Dakota. It is named after the creek that runs through it, called Box Elder Creek. It was founded in 1907, but remained unincorporated until 1965. It’s home to the western half of the state’s regional airport, in addition to the military air force base.
